A couple from Hagnaya, San Remigio town, lost P500 cash and a high-end mobile phone in a jeepney robbery yesterday morning.
Melord and Charo Barrientos got on a jeepney in Colon Street on their way to the North Reclamation Area past 11 a.m. yesterday to do some shopping.
But upon reaching Andres Soriano Street, barangay Mabolo, four young robbers who posed as passengers declared a hold-up and took the Sharp Vuda cellphone worth P40,000 from Melord. The phone is reportedly still not available in the country, only in Japan.
The couple later told Mabolo Police investigator Jack Jacalan that two of the robbers were armed with fan knives, the third had a handgun while the fourth acted as lookout.
They believe the robbers were not veterans to crime as the one who demanded their valuables was trembling as he told her to hurry.
"Nagkurog-kurog kuno pagpangayo og kuwarta. Giingnan ni Charo nga P500 lang kay wala nami pamilite nisugot raman sad unya nagdali-dali og layat," Jacalan said.
The couple viewed the rogue's gallery of the Mabolo Police but failed to identify any of the robbers.
The couple said two of the robbers got on with them in Colon Street and two more joined them in barangay Tejero.
