Toledo cop being probed for indiscriminate firing of gun

A Toledo City policeman is now being investigated for alleged indiscriminate firing of his gun while under the influence of liquor in barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan town Tuesday night.
PO1 Roel Suquib, once a member of the patrol team, is now restricted to station tasked to do clerical work and answer phone calls after residents of barangay Tajao complained against his behavior.
At about 11 pm last Tuesday, he allegedly fired repeatedly his issued .45 pistol causing panic among residents. Some of the residents reportedly sustained bruises as they scampered away from the area upon hearing bursts of gunfire.
After the incident, Suquib reportedly threw away his firearm and left, but this was recovered by residents and turned over to the police station together with an empty magazine and three empty shells.
Later, he came back to the area and that was when he was arrested. He was turned over to the Toledo Police station under the custody of his immediate superior Supt. Leodegario Acebedo.
Acebedo, in an interview with The FREEMAN, yesterday said that he is still investigating the incident, but initially he learned that Suquib was invited by a friend so he went to Pinamungajan.
"Lasing siya medyo nasobrahan yata sa nainom. Ganito daw talaga ang ugali niya kapag nalalasing. Problema maraming naistorbo, ang iba nagalusan pa dahil tumakbo nung natakot," Acebedo said.
Acebedo is expected to finish his investigation next week. He is to submit a report before the office of provincial director Drusillo Bolodo.
