For Talisay resorts, pools: Sanitary regulations proposed at council

- Garry B. Lao -
The Talisay City council is set to discuss in today's session legislative proposals imposing sanitary requirements on private resort and swimming pool establishments in the city.

Councilor Shirley Belleza has sponsored a resolution and an ordinance on this matter in response to reports that these places could be deteriorating allegedly due to unsanitary conditions.

"If our beaches keep deteriorating due to unsanitary conditions, it is almost impossible to promote the beaches of Talisay," Belleza said as she cited the importance of these places in promoting the coastal city of Talisay for tourism.

Belleza said the council should approve a law imposing sanitary measures on these places and sanctions against errant resort owners.

The proposed measures would impose the provision of sanitary toilet facilities and garbage bins, among others, to maintain the cleanliness of the beaches, seashores and swimming pools in the city.

Belleza said she proposed a penalty of P500 against beaches or resorts that do not have comfort rooms, and P300 against those that do not have garbage bins.
