Priest now adopted son of Talisay

- Garry B. Lao -
The Talisay City council has declared Rev. Fr. Joselito Tajanlangit as an adopted son of the Talisaynons for his transformation of the Sta. Teresa de Avila parish in barangay Poblacion into "one of the best" in the Archdiocese of Cebu.

Tajanlangit, who has served as parish priest of Sta. Teresa de Avila for six years now, is the second non-Talisaynon to be accorded the honor.

The first was Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, who was conferred the title of adopted daughter when she won as the first woman governor of the province.

The city council declared Tajanlangit an adopted son of the city through Resolution No. 2005-113 passed on June 30. Council chairwoman on tourism, cultural and historical affairs Shirley Belleza introduced the resolution.

Belleza said Tajanlangit made substantial improvements not only in the physical aspect of the church but more importantly the spiritual development of the people.

"Reverend Father Joselito Tajanlangit has supported the programs of the Local Government Unit by his significant advocacy and encouragement on or out of the pulpit particularly on matters that concern sanitation and the preservation of our environment," the resolution read.

Belleza also said that "it is most apt and suitable to show our gratitude for positively affecting our people with his gift of person all the good things he has done for all Talisaynons."
