Malverse raps vs. Castro dropped

-
Controversial prosecutor Mary Ann Castro was cleared of her criminal and administrative cases for malversation that were filed by businessman Nanak Yu at the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas.

"This office finds no sufficient grounds to engender a well-founded belief that the crime of malversation was committed," the decision on the criminal case read.

As for the administrative case, the Ombudsman also found "no sufficient evidence" against Castro, thereby dismissing her case.

Both decisions dated November 5 of last year were signed by Graft Investigation and Prosecution officer Jane Aguilar.

Castro filed a criminal case before the Municipal Trial Court in Cebu City against Yu and his younger brother Jake over a traffic incident. The two allegedly smashed her car July 10 last year because it obstructed the driveway to their workplace. Castro demanded P100,000 for damages.
