Fire razes 25 houses in Lapu-Lapu City

CEBU, Philippines — At least 25 houses were razed by fire believed to have been caused by illegally-refilled butane canisters in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday afternoon.

Fire Officer 3 Urbiz Tondo, investigator at Lapu-Lapu City Fire Department, said they have yet to identify the house where the fire started because nobody wants to talk.

The fire department, however, is looking into reports that the blaze may have been caused by illegally-refilled butane canisters. Damage was pegged at P120,000.

Tondo said they received the alarm at 12:42 p.m. and was raised to third alarm before it was declared fire out at 1:05 p.m. — FPL (FREEMAN)
