The Most Advanced Hyperbaric Chamber Now in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Doctors University Hospital now offers a multi-place hyperbaric chamber, the first hospital-based and most advanced hyperbaric facility in Visayas and Mindanao.
To meet the growing demand of the wellness industry, CebuDoc is all set to provide a bigger and better Center for Hyperbaric Medicine, which is a breakthrough treatment for healing decompression sickness and other wellness concerns.
“The basic concept of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, or HBOT, is to oxygenate every minute cell of the human anatomy. By doing so, it improves the circulation of blood, oxygen, and other vital elements necessary for human life, thus providing a general sense of wellbeing,” hyperbaric nurse Kevin Nosdo explains. He adds that hyperbaric chamber is filled with pressurized air to simulate the required depth. An individual hood is then utilized to supply oxygen to every person inside with different levels of oxygen supply as prescribed by a hyperbaric physician.
The chamber is operated by team of experts and highly-trained professionals led by Dr. Hilario S. Cabaitan II, a distinguished member of the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society who has trained for HBOT course.
“The doctor and nurses in the Center are professionally skilled in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. For us nurses, updates on our trainings relative to our areas of expertise are a requirement. We have to update our skills before we start our treatments,” said Leizel Gako, nurse supervisor at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine.
Hyperbaric medicine has been in existence for centuries, aiding men in recuperating from a wide range of conditions. As the demand for HBOT increases, it will soon be a requisite for every medical institution.
CebuDoc is the only hospital to offer both single and multi-chamber setting. Its latest multi-chamber hyperbaric machine can accommodate more than seven patients at a time. Patients don’t have to squeeze in and out of the mono-chamber; they just go in, take a seat, wear the headgear and that’s it. The multi-chamber offers the same benefits as that of a mono-chamber; they only differ in the comfort level of the patients. The treatments inside the chamber could feel a little like a first-class airplane flight.
HBOT is 100 percent safe for the allowed patients. Patients with ear or nose problems like sinusitis and ruptured eardrum have to address it before going through hyperbaric treatment. Comprehensive screening for all patients is done before treatments, because patient safety is a top priority.
