The style to Tie the Knot

CEBU, Philippines — The first-ever bridal fair at Oakridge Business Park closed with a bridal fashion presentation on Saturday, March 23.

Headlining the occasion were the in-season creations of the metro’s highly sought-after and highly respected designers – Cary Santiago, Edwin Ao, Protacio, Jun Escario, Oj Hofer, Dino Lloren, Ren Manabat, Mike Yapching, Mel Maria, Marichu Tan-Geson, Philipp Tampus and Philip Rodriguez.

Collectively, the event’s featured designs centered on the many ways to spruce up simplicity, as it featured various wedding-dress styles ranging from layered-hem gowns, serpentina cuts, raffia-themed ensembles and all else in between. These were amped up with sweet details that were neither overblown nor polarizing but just right – setting a radiant glow on muted embellishments and appliqués.

By focalizing on the inherent appeal of basic styles, the event’s featured sets brought forward a frequently missed point to a wedding dress – that the dress itself isn’t the point but the wearer; that a wedding dress has to shine without outshining the bride.

The bridal fair, dubbed “Bride Box,” held at the Oakridge Pavilion on March 22 and 23 featured exhibits by 50 of the metro’s top wedding suppliers and organizers. Organizers promised that it was only the beginning – they planned to make “Bride Box” an annual bridal fair series.
