Great Steak, Affordably

Dezsa C. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu is a concrete jungle of food hubs. There is a “silogan” in almost every corner. Posh restaurants are all around, as well – aside from the endless string of street food stalls and fast food chains.

In fact, it can be dizzying to choose from the multitude of choices. And yet everybody basically wants great food in generous servings at affordable prices. Fortunately for Cebuanos, this is now possible to find – American style.

A new steakhouse has opened along J. Panes Street in Banilad. Called The Meathouse, it is a family-style steakhouse that serves premium U.S. grade beef. The place vouches on the quality of their steaks. Its menu includes items that are kids’ favorites, like fried chicken and spaghetti.

But the house specialties are the Prime Grade Ribeye, Monster Chop, Meat House Ribs and Angus Beef Burger. Their Prime Grade Ribeye is the cheapest in the city so far. It’s a smoking and juicy 500-gram U.S. Ribeye Steak seasoned with Himalayan salt and black pepper, and grilled to the customer’s desired doneness.

For groups or families who want a sampler of all of the restaurant’s best dishes, the MH Family Bonding Platter is the answer. The platter includes half honey lemon peppered chicken, one piece of monster chop, 400 grams of MH ribs, and one imported sausage of the customers’ choice served with fries on the side.

Diners may then choose from a selection of desserts to cap off their meal. The Meat House has an array of delectable sweet concoctions like warm brownie in a cup and apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate moist cake made with rich Belgian chocolate.

For food lovers, The Meat House can be a great discovery of a place. It’s new and, for sure, it tries harder to please customers, in order to keep them coming back. (FREEMAN)
