"Balay Parol" Shines for Charities

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Continuing its tradition of recognizing charitable institutions that provide shelter and hope to those under its care, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort in  Mactan lit up its annual "Balay Parol" (House of Christmas Lanterns) on November 18 to welcome the holiday season of joy for all. It signalled the resort's firm commitment to sustain its local communities and the less fortunate. Through its charitable "12 Days of Christmas" Project, the event honored the kids of Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Phils., Inc., Hugpa Day Care Center and Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries.

The "Balay Parol" celebration was headed by Bluewater Resorts' member of the board Kerbasi Ugarte together with general manager Rhyz Buac and guest, City Tourism Chief Officer Hembler Mendoza. Homegrown talents Angelicus Children's Choir and Vispop 4.0 Grand Champion Joseph Gara regaled guests with angelic and heartwarming performances. A Dinner-for-a-Cause followed with sumptuous and fresh selections, mimicking a feast at a local fishing village.

The "Balay Parol" is an open invitation for guests, families and friends to visit Bluewater Maribago and witness the colorful Christmas lanterns that brightly light its gardens. The lanterns symbolize the warmth and love that characterize the Filipino Christmas.

The lighting of the "Balay Parol" also signals the resort's various holiday offerings to spice up the season. One may visit the "Balay Pasko" (House of Sweets and Gifts), to indulge in delightful homemade and local sweet treats perfect for sharing and gifts. Other heritage experiences include Simbang Gabi, Noche Buena (on December 24), and 2017 NYE Bash. Kids may join the Dolpo Kids Club Christmas activities, such as Kids Helping Kids, Decorate Your Own Super-sized Holiday Cookie, Kids Goodnight Treats, Dolpo Photo Booth Contest, Kool Kakanins and many more. Everyone may also stay, relax and enjoy special packages and immerse in Amuma, the resort's Filipino brand of service and experience.

Bluewater Resorts in Panglao had its "Balay Parol" lighting on November 25, and in Sumilon by December 5. (FREEMAN)
