“The War in Cebu” Book Launch and Photo Exhibit
CEBU, Philippines – In line with the 70th commemoration of the end of World War II this year, the University of San Carlos Press, with the support of the Ayala Center Cebu and Phiazarra Publishing House, launched “The War in Cebu” last December 8.
Held at the Activity Center of the mall, the book launch was paired with the ceremonial ribbon cutting of an exhibit of select photographs that are included in the publication. The photo exhibit runs until today at the second level of the mall’s expansion wing.
Written by Resil Mojares, David Taylor, Valeriano Avila, David Colamaria and J. Eleazar Bersales, the 14 chapters of the 260-page coffee table book contains various war stories and accounts of battles that took place in the province during World War II. The coffee table book also touches on how economic and political life in Cebu was at the time.
Featuring more than 500 images of Cebu taken during World War II, “The War in Cebu” is not simply intent on documenting Cebu’s history during World War II, but is also aimed towards inspiring more research, studies and publications on Cebu’s World War II history.
More information on the coffee table book is available via The University of San Carlos Press or via Phiazarra Publishing House at [email protected].
