A night with Soltera

CEBU, Philippines - High style was front and center in last Saturday’s “A Night with Soltera” – a fashion presentation that showcased the latest bridal collections of couturiers affiliated with the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA).

Held at The Gourmet Walk of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, fineries by Edwin Alba, Valerie Alvez, Edward Castro, Angela Dado, Bebes Garso, Lord Maturan, Mel Maria and Philipp Tampus were the main highlights of the event.

Minimalist-but-profound design delineations punctuated by lace-appliqued cuts of organza and tulle were a dominant motif among the 16 wedding gowns that were showcased during the bridal fashion show.

Complemented by the sharpness in bold tailoring and the indelible markers of intently in-the-now harmonies, the fineries that were presented last Saturday evinced the many variables that have inducted Alba, Alvez, Castro, Dado, Garso, Maturan, Maria and Tampus into Cebu’s highly-sought-after couturiers.

“A Night with Soltera” was a prelude to the Waterfront’s upcoming “Wedding Expo 2015” – a three-day wedding fair that brings more than 40 of Cebu’s top wedding suppliers in one venue.

Set to open tomorrow (to run until Monday, October 26), the wedding fair’s highlights include two main fashion presentations on its opening and closing day, and seminars on creative design, wedding planning and floral arrangements for couples who are planning to tie the knot.

A talk about how one can best choose bridal gown designs is also part of the fair’s activities, along with make-up, centerpiece making and table presentation competitions for the fair’s participating exhibitors. (FREEMAN)
