CEBU, Philippines – A two-minute trailer of Sony Pictures' upcoming movie adaptation of Rovio Entertainment's "Angry Birds" was released last week.
Featuring the characters "Red," "Chuck," "Bomb" and "Leonard," the trailer gives a glimpse of the movie's plot -giving a hint of why Angry Birds' feathered fellows are so furious.
Talk of an "Angry Birds" movie has been rife since the mobile game made waves in late 2009. To those who've long been waiting, the trailer announces that the movie is coming to theaters by May 2016.
Pebble's First Round-faced Smartwatch
Weighing only 28 grams and measuring 7.5mm thin, pioneering smartwatch brand Pebble unveiled the "Pebble Time Round" last week.
Characterized as the brand's first round-faced smartwatch, the wearable device comes in two band-size variants - 20mm and 14mm - and can be fitted with a variety of body-and-strap finishes and color options.
New Media Meet-Up Event
Members of the Cebu media and the local blogging community converged at the PLDT Lab located along Osmeña Boulevard on Friday, September 25, for a 'new media' meet-up event that featured talks and workshops on mobile phone photojournalism, writing, fundamentals of HTML/CSS coding (for web development), e-book production and mobile app creation.
Media professionals, all veterans in their respective lines of specialization, were the speakers and workshop facilitators.
The event was spearheaded by InnoPub Media, Smart Communications Inc. and PLDT as part of the highlights of this year's Cebu Press Freedom Week celebration.
360-degree Videos on Facebook News Feeds
Last week, Facebook announced that it is adding support for 360-degree videos on its News Feeds.
The 360-degree videos - or simply "360 videos" - are captured using a special set of cameras that can simultaneously record 360-degree scenes. Viewers of 360 videos can pick an angle from where to view a video.
Facebook News Feed support for 360 videos is currently available on the web and on Android devices (via the Facebook mobile app). Support for iOS devices is expected to follow in the coming months.
Foldable Phone Rumored by 2016
Rumors of Samsung releasing foldable phones by January 2016 has recently come up - hinting that two Samsung "foldable phone" models will be available by next year.
Word has it that the foldable phone lineup includes one model that's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 chipset and a high-end variant that runs on a Snapdragon 820 chip. The foldable phone models are expected to pack 3 gigs of RAM, hardware support for a microSD slot and a non-removable battery.
It is still unclear if specifications of the rumored foldable phones are spot on, as different tech media outfits cite the source of the news bit as simply an anonymous tipster who claims to have inside knowledge of the products.
