Style Origin 2015

This year's Style Origin ended with back-to-back fashion shows last July, at The Gallery of Ayala Center Cebu. Inspired designs from homegrown talents, celebrated designers and premium brands were highlighted during the fashion event.

A brainchild of Ayala Malls, Style Origin is a series of activities that showcases music, fashion, design and lifestyle. Held annually, Style Origin has cultivated each shopper's eye for style, redefined and elevated the complete retail experience and reaffirmed that style begins at Ayala Malls.

Since it launched in 2011, Style Origin has brought exciting fashion trends and forecasts through runway shows, exhibitions and in-store mall displays, showcasing the latest fashion must-haves and lifestyle trends.

Hosted by Blinky De Leon, the Mensweek Fashion Show featured the creations of Herbert Custodio, Randolf, Gian Romano and Jail Jeans together with Cebu's Edwin Ao, Protacio, Yvonne Quisumbing, Philip Rodriguez and Cary Santiago.

"The collection was inspired by the work of Mark Rothko's 1962 untitled artwork in black and gray. It was a play on loose pieces as a new alternative in today's existing silhouettes." - Edwin Ao

"It's about exploring the feminine side of manhood and conquering fears of being labeled as 'unmacho'. So silhouettes are soft and the feel is more relaxed. To make my message of conquering fears more visual, I made embroideries in bugs and beetles motif." - Protacio

"The fabrics are cottons to suit our weather. The cuts are simple and straightforward. The details, which are the clean slits, unite the whole collection." - Yvonne Quisumbing

"The collection is called 'Keepsakes'. Vintage postcards from colonial Cebu were printed on the linen and crepe fabrics all mixed together to form a wonderful collage of varied fabric textures and lace in different silhouette to represent modern resort wear so reflective of Cebu." - Philip Rodriguez

"Inspired by the samurai, the collection features neoprene fabric with embossed sculptured fabric. Incorporating the 3D details, the shape and silhouette is after the samurai garment." - Cary Santiago.
