Unique Delights
CEBU, Philippines – Along the small Sanjercasvil Road, in the city's Lahug district, is an old American colonial house with a distinct Juliet porch. The house has been renovated and is now called Circa 1900, a restaurant, piano bar and
function venue. According to owner Eya Shrimski, great efforts have been taken to retain the original architecture and material of the house as it serves as both dining destination and watering hole for history and culture buffs.
The place serves international cuisine that also features the Filipino culinary heritage by using local ingredients. House specialties like Banana-Coconut Cake with Malunggay Ice Cream are unique favorites. An improved presentation of smoked marlin beckons at the salad station and comes with arugula, mesclun and saba banana with turnips and tangy wasabi dill sauce.
Circa 1900 grows its own garden of vegetables and herbs for its kitchen, thereby significantly lessening the travel of ingredients from farm to fork.
