Alcoseba-Castillo collaboration

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The works of Cebuano artists Darby Vincent Alcoseba and Cesar Castillo were the showcased highlights of “Mix & Match 2” – a two-man art show which ran from December 1 to 18 in the 2nd level of the Ayala Center Cebu.

Presented by Cebu Artists Inc. and the Ayala Center Cebu, the exhibit essentially set the spotlight on the two artists’ creative slants – both having a penchant for the narrative painting form, but different in the way they render stories, subjects and visual elements into their compositions.

Capturing scenes from the countryside, marketplace activities, and the iconic elements that define the traditional Filipino way of life, the show’s overall presentation was brought to form by its exhibiting artists’ predilection for creative collaboration – working independently, but keen on creating pieces that would equivocally complement with each other.

As the metaphorical strings that are tied with its title would imply, “Mix & Match 2” was all about exploring the bounds of creative collaboration – in how its execution can be singular in tone, yet not biased in causing chafe and constraint for its collaborators.
