All aboard the The “Jokai I”

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Here’s an idea: try spending an afternoon cruising along the Mactan Channel onboard a chartered 72 feet long and 40 feet wide catamaran.

You could take your time impressing guests from out of town, celebrate momentous occasions with friends and family, or simply bask in the majestic sunset over the sea – and thereby make a most memorable milestone out of an otherwise regular occasion.

Impossible you say? There’s no such thing here in Cebu? Well, just recently – there is.

Hot on the heels of its maiden sunset cruise last Saturday, November 22, the first motorized catamaran in Cebu that’s available for private day charters now offers small-ship cruising experience to one and all.

With enough space to comfortably accommodate up to 50 persons in one go, the “Jokai I” (pronounced yo-kai) by Jokai Marine International Inc. is a custom-made party boat designed by French naval architect Gildas Plessis of the Paris-based Studio 3 firm. It is a small ship that’s blended with big ship amenities.

This catamaran was built in Cebu, by Evercat Asia. As a custom-made party boat, the Jokai I can accommodate different types of gatherings, celebrations and functions – from weddings to corporate events, private parties and more. It docks at the Cebu Yacht Club in Lapu-Lapu City. More information is available at: www.jokaimarine.net.
