Quiet Time With Mateo
BFF: Best Friends Forever
“There! That’s Gadong all right!” Teo stepped out of his bedroom after drawing his best friend’s face. He had no photo of Gadong, so he drew a picture of him instead.
He hurried to their sala and called out to his father in the kitchen, “Tatay, may I bring the picture on the wall to school tomorrow?”
“What for?” Tatay Ador asked.
“We have to bring pictures of our two best friends.”
“OK, but take good care of it. That was your Nanay’s favorite picture!”
Next day in school, Teacher Ligaya smiled and said, “OK, children, show me the pictures of your two best friends!”
Going around, her eyes popped when she saw Teo’s lifelike drawing of Gadong’s face.
Her eyes popped even more when she saw the other picture on Teo’s desk and the pictures that several of his classmates had brought. They were pictures of Jesus! Jesus with little children, Jesus with His disciples, Jesus carrying a lamb, Jesus eating the Last Supper with His disciples, and the largest picture of all, Teo’s picture of Jesus praying at Gethsemane. She hadn’t expected this at all!
Teacher Ligaya sniveled and said a silent prayer, “Thank You, Jesus, for these little children. Today they showed me how much they know about friendship.”
Prayer:
Thank You for my friends, Lord. Thank You, most of all, for being my Friend. Amen.
Memory Verse:
“Some friends may ruin you, but a real friend will be more loyal than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
