Halloween Makeup Tricks
CEBU, Philippines - Halloween parties are happening everywhere. This is common at the coming of the month of November. The scary season has, right now, come almost to the point of celebration frenzy. Creative scary decorations now fill homes, offices and business places.
Aside from the spooky decorations, Halloween costumes are a fad, especially when attending Halloween parties. It sure boosts the excitement. They even make it a contest these days.
Saints, angels, zombies, vampires or witches are only few of the most popular characters for a Halloween party. And it's not only the costume that achieves the look - it requires the right makeup too.
A Halloween getup need not cost much. Common household items and recyclable materials around the house may be used:
A "Zombie" costume, using old school uniform, can go with fake scar makeup using toilet paper, glue and non-toxic body paint. Glue is applied on the face, hands and other exposed body parts, then the tissue paper. When the glue dries, non-toxic paint is added. The easy process results in a scary, real-looking zombie.
For a "White Lady" costume, any kind of white blankets at home can be used. Matching makeup only takes an eyeliner trick to create the right eye impression. Fake blood spots are easy to create using old red lipstick.
The "Avatar" look requires extensive body paint to effectively achieve the appearance. Homemade, non-toxic body paint is easy to prepare with materials like cornstarch, water and food coloring and simply mixing these together.
A popular favorite is the "Dead Bride" look. It's achieved with an old white dress, red food coloring for fake blood stains all over the dress, and gray or white powder on the face.
The "Fairy Godmother" look is achieved using aluminum foil - a common kitchen item - to accessorize the fairy impersonation, with shimmering make up to brighten up the whole concept.
Like in any creative project, preparation is very important. At least all materials needed for the desired Halloween look shall be gathered and prepared beforehand. It is so awkward to be going around the house, looking for the other materials when one is already halfway through the getup process. (FREEMAN)
