CEBU, Philippines - No less than Jason Magbanua, known to be the trendsetter of the same-day edits and the man behind the tear-jerking wedding videos seen online, has been contracted by Shangri-la's Mactan Resort and Spa to produce a wedding video for the "Of Veils and Trails" bridal fair tomorrow, March 29.
Jason has his own distinct style when it comes to making wedding videos. He views the whole footage first, because the "story" actually depends on the kind of footage there is. He listens very closely, too, taking note of every dramatic word or sound captured in the raw footage.
Then he decides on the drift of the final cut. "I would like to know first the kind of message I would convey through the video, and then I work from there," he says. No wonder his works never fail to touch the hearts not only of the couple and their guests, but everyone who watches it, as well.
Jason, given his high standing in the wedding-videos circle, has already done a good number of memorable works. But when asked of his one long-time favorite of those, he says he has none. "I have to have a current favorite, say every six months, because that means [I am] improving. That means [I am] developing. Within that span of time, you [will] have already grown as an artist."
He started in the business 14 years ago. "I thought when I was starting out that wedding videography had a bad reputation. Then, I just thought, 'Why can't wedding videos be more entertaining?'" From that moment on, wedding videography is not simply a stepping stone for him, it has become his career.
This artist takes pride in what he does. "I am a wedding videographer," he confidently claims. H He takes the job seriously, like it is the very definition of his person. "That's why I'm good at it," Jason shares.
Of course, this successful professional is not expected to be shooting videos every minute of every day. Jason also spends time with his kids, playing video games or reading graphic novels. This much acclaimed video artist is a regular family man. (FREEMAN)
