Envy Feng Shui, everyone?

Many a time, the most oft-repeated consultation question by clients is: "Master, how do I remedy envy in my life?" Yes, envy in its most common forms, from sibling rivalry, peer competition, office politics, and the so-called Filipino crab mentality culture!

From a feng shui viewpoint, envy and its twin partner of consequence, intrique, always come as a one-two punch combination. Like Batman and Robin. Envy and intrigue are caused by several bad feng shui situations and symbolisms in one's home and work environment! What are these?

Poison arrows or sha chi (bad life energies) cause these factors of envy and intrigue. These bad life energies emanate from any of the most common occurrences in plain sight around you, if you care enough to look:

1. Neighborhood sharp roof-corner gables or house and building edges that point to your place of habitat or work station;

2. Dead ends or T-junctions, commonly known as "tumbok," either by way of street layout or simple corridor or hallways in the house or office hitting your desk or bed or bedroom;

3. Landscape factors like thorny plants in your surroundings; yes, bougainvilleas are the most popular, together with roses and the most unnoticed bromeliads and aloe vera. Cactus plant, too,  is bad feng shui!

4. Fencing that involves barbed wires around the vicinity of the house or building and, oftentimes in the Philippine setting, broken bottle shards cemented atop fence grids to ward off robbers.

These four categories of bad feng shui elements amount to front stabbing by envious devil people if positioned in front, backstabbing if at the back, and side stabbing if at the left or right side of the property or feng shui layout. It is best to remove them accordingly, to avoid envy and intrigues.

Mirror and crystal cures are also often used whenever suitably applicable. This is why so many skyscrapers are so tinted, like using mirrors when facing surrounding buildings with so many poison arrows. It serves to protect the developer's feng shui interests, first and foremost, and the potential tenants' as well.

Throughout history, various cultures have amassed anti-envy amulets. Turkey and European countries use the evil eye amulet to ward off envy. Usually it is placed above the main door, on the outside, of a house or office. Gemstones have also been used as a countermeasure against envy and intrigue, the most popular being aventurine stones and the black gemstone onyx! All these have valuable feng shui values against envy.

But the best antidote to any envy or intrigue of whatever nature is heart-centered feng shui: a heart of gold! Two Neil Young songs combine to resonate this lesson - no amount of "Four Strong Winds," be it from North, South, East or West, or anywhere in between, can affect a benevolent "Heart of Gold." Envy and intrigue won't work on one who comes with the right feng shui perspective: from within, so without!
