Affairs to remember

Lawyers Dean and Joje Decal had a cool evening on the day they celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary. It was raining cats and dogs… rather there was a heavy downpour… but this did not dampen the spirits of those invited as they all came for the anniversary affair.

Held at the roof deck of the newly-finished Baseline Residence Condo, the condominium project developed by Canizares-Soberano tandem, the venue was full to the hilt. Invited by the anniversarians were their colleagues, doctors and nurses from Chong Hua Hospital.

Over in Daanbantayan in the north of Cebu, despite that the town was ravaged by typhoon Yolanda, Efren Pontejon and long-time sweetheart Lucena Carbonquillo proceeded with their plan to get married last January 2014. The marriage was solemnized by Fr. Richard Rama at the Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish in Poblacion, Daanbantayan. Efren is the son of Mr. Jose Pontejon and Mrs. Rosa Pontejon while Lucena is the daughter of Mr. Ceferino Carbonquillo and Mrs. Virginia Carbonquillo.

The principal sponsors were: Mr. Juvenal Pontejon and Mrs. Lorelei Pontejon, and Atty. Gilbert Arrabis and Mrs. Chona de Leon.

After the church ceremonies, reception followed at the bride's residence in Pajo, Daanbantayan, Cebu.

The Cebu Bonsai Society and Cebu Suiseki Society had a joint exhibit of their artful products and plant arrangements held at the Atrium C, SM City Cebu two weeks ago.

Guests of honor on opening day were Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Ms. Marissa Fernan, SM Vice President for Marketing for Visayas and Mindanao. Also present were Consul Shoji Otake and Mrs. Naomi Otake. Of course, Cebu Bonsai President Jovita Macaraya and Cebu Suiseki Society President Betty Eustaquio were very much present.

After the opening ceremonies and the viewing of the exhibit, a sumptuous merienda cena followed.
