The Henry

Honey Jarque Loop - The Freeman

With the rise of tourist arrivals the past decade, Cebu has become synonymous with vast hotels. But a new lodging prototype has reached our shores, the boutique hotels which are typically small and intimate, offering patrons with amenities that match their interests and preferences.

In today’s travel industry, boutique hotels are the lesser known and yet are becoming  popular travel accommodation choice. They  have fewer rooms and usually offer personalized services to their guests. A good boutique hotel is such that you will never ever get bored and have something new and exciting to do every single day of your stay. There is never a dull moment. Either the activities  keep you busy or the staff  ensures that you have the time of your life. Every tiny detail is looked into in these hotels – be it the quality of customer service or even the interiors, they are almost flawless.

One such hotel that was formally launched recently is The Henry, Cebu’s only design-forward, art-inspired boutique hotel located at Paseo Saturnino, Maria Luisa Road, Banilad. The launching was hosted by Tessa Prieto Valdes and Jiggy Jr. On hand to welcome guests were chairman Hanky Lee, general manager Mirro Reperuga and  representatives of its management company Hospitality International Inc. headed by founder and CEO Luis Monserrat.

Whether for fun or relaxation, facilities at the Henry were conceived to deliver distinct satisfaction. Guests can bask in the sun and lounge by the outdoor garden pool, get cozy with a book at the Reading Room or be pampered at Salon Lohas. For those who need a bit of shopping fun, Virus Boutique located on the ground floor carries a variety of fashionable pieces while Qube Art Gallery has some of the most exquisite works of contemporary artists from the Visayas and Mindanao. Gustatory delights from gourmet comfort food may be enjoyed all day at Rica’s, while evenings can be capped off with cocktails and good music at Scrapyard Lounge on the second floor.

All 38 spacious and cozy rooms and suites feature a unique décor or unusual in-room detail. Astounding wall murals ranging from Marilyn Monroe, Moroccan windows, a lady posing on her vintage convertible, brick rooms, to pastel or brightly colored walls, often amaze and invigorate  guests.

The vision behind The Henry was of creating a revolution in the experience of the guest, making the accommodation an important part of the trip rather than just a place to sleep at night.
