Kidzmania in Manila
CEBU, Philippines - Children need to play, we know that. But role play is rather different. It stimulates a sense of inspiration, is fun and a good learning activity for kids.
This is the concept of KidZania, an interactive kiddie city open to children from four to 14 years old. At KidZania, kids independently explore a world their own size and choose from over 100 exciting activities involving role-play of grown-up jobs. Each experience is designed to empower kids, giving them the confidence to be their best selves, and the inspiration to be great global citizens.
A guy named Xavier Lopez opened the first KidZania in Mexico 1999. The next 14 others were in 12 non-English speaking countries, the reason why news about it had immediately spread to the rest of the world.
Play Innovations, Inc., the operators of KidZania, and Cebu Pacific Air have recently sealed a partnership agreement for the KidZania park to open in Taguig City next year. Cebu Pacific is to bring aviation-themed activities in a real airplane at the park. A 9,000 square-meter space is be set up within a new mall at Bonifacio Global City.
The partner companies both understand how fun helps in learning and in building memories. Hence, the shared vision of inspiring and introducing kids to the thrill of aviation and the fascinating world of travel. At the upcoming first-of-its-kind indoor play center in the country, kids will check in at the arrival counter of KidZania International Airport, from where they will be welcomed into a Cebu Pacific aircraft.
At the kiddie aviation academy of KidZania Manila, children can role-play as pilots to learn about the cockpit and the plane control panels using state-of-the-art flight simulators. They can also role play as members of the cabin crew or passengers.
KidZania is one of the most inventive and fastest growing kiddie edutainment concepts in the world. Expected to cater to over 600,000 visitors annually when it opens next year, KidZania Manila will also feature a hospital, university, television station, and a variety of establishments where kids can role-play over 100 jobs – from doctors, engineers, and bank tellers to artists. They will learn about different careers, the inner workings of a city, and the concept of managing money, enabling them to ‘get ready for a better world.
