The Monster becomes you

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - One doctor put it plainly. “Whether you culture an embryo in a dish or in a womb, it is still a baby. It’s really like killing a baby so that its stem cells can make you young.”

Is stem cell therapy altering God’s design? Another doctor warned that the biggest drawback of reprogramming cell growth is a phenomenon called teratoma. Coming from the word, monster, a teratoma is a multi-layered benign tumor that grows when the replication of stem cells go berserk.

You mean, Doc, that a person who has stem cell implantation to look young, can grow to become a monster even after several implantations? Ehem, yes! People should be made to understand. But then understanding will not always translate to caution in stem cell therapy. Sometimes people just get too obsessed with the fear of aging and the craving to look young, not minding the consequences of altering God’s design.

God’s design is His design. Stem cells were designed to replace and repair worn tissues and not be reprogrammed. Genetically tampering and tinkering, purportedly in the name of science comes with its own risks – the promise and the price are monstrous. (FREEMAN)
