Hope for fishermen
CEBU, Philippines - The Stella Maris and Friends Project is calling on donors to partner with them in helping fishermen whose boats have been destroyed or incapacitated by calamities. The project aims to reinforce and strengthen the livelihood of these marginalized group.
Essentially a livelihood rehabilitation project spearheaded by the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the project aims to provide larger than small, single family-sized boats to two or three fishermen-family clusters, allowing them to work together in catching more and better fish.
Working together with the Maya United Fishermen's Association, the project has designed processes and procedures that are geared towards its success and sustainability - from the selection of its beneficiaries to the implementation of a monitoring system that covers daily catch reports, regular boat inspections, regular boat maintenance reports and more.
Any party interested in supporting the project as a donor may channel their contributions to the Parish Office of the Archdiocesan Shine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, or though the Banco de Oro account of the Jesuit Sacred Heart Church, Inc: Savings Account Number 7600 82154. — (FREEMAN)
