What happens at the back door?

THE PALCE TO BE - Jen F. Vega - The Philippine Star

“Come as you are” is the only rule. Well, who wouldn’t? It surely feels like home.

This is the backdoor which doesn’t have a door! So, anyone can enter through the back door, 24/7. There’s food for everyone: tempura, ngohiong, pork barbeque, pancit canton, peanuts, among many other pica-pica munches and beer matches – nothing too fancy, really.

“This is where people chill and feel at home; where young ones can enjoy while spending less. This is where they can relax and enjoy the music after a whole day’s work. This is the place to be,” landlords Rhomel Caudor, Duane del Rosario and Jonas Rafanan relate with regards to the concept behind The Back Door.

This new watering hole adopts the self service and pay-as-you-order policies where everything is practical and casual. Anyone can grab a drink in the fridge, pay for it at the counter, order a ginabot or piniritong baboy and wait for the food server to hand his/her order. This experience is totally not far from home yet in a better ambiance.

The trio boasts of their original concoction of mixed alcoholic drinks which are either rhum or vodka-based aside from the usual commercially-sold booze. Beer pong, beer bong and board games are part of the set-up to make the huddling more exciting!

Yet to add a twist to the usual watering hole setting, the owners rented out a space for two tattoo artists to open their venture inside the Back Door. Boracay Ink, owned by two hands-on artists Jisnu Abella and JR Abella whose artistic talents were honed at the tropical island of Boracay, accepts eager human canvases from 1pm to 12 midnight.

So what happens at the back door? You might just get yourself inked after losing at the beer pong! So take it easy on the betting!
