Gabii sa Sugbu Governor’s Night

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

For the 444th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cebu, a one-week activity took place at the Capitol grounds with produce coming from the different towns and cities of Cebu sold out without much ado.

Thus, last August 7, Gabii sa Sugbu… otherwise known as the Governor’s Night… was celebrated at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol Building with dinner and a musicale. This was the culmination of the week-long celebration which was low-key and sedate; the stage décor subtle but with a tinge of elegance. And the First Lady, Mrs. Jobel Davide , looked elegant in her black lace cocktail dress, as she made an entrance with dear husband, Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III.

At any rate, the evening’s program started with Talisay City Rondalla rendering nice songs followed with the Opening Remarks of Lady Vice Governor Agnes Almendras Magpale. Then came the entertainment numbers by the San Diego Dancers, the San Fernando Singers, the Winners of the Capitol Dancing Competition and Cebu City Sports Team. Before the final number was presented, Governor Junjun delivered a brief message, after which, he led in the toast for a very fruitful and successful celebration, marking the 444th anniversary of the Province of Cebu. Mabuhay!
