Plant stem cells in skin care

Maria Eleanor E. Valeros - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Stem cells are not a strange topic. It’s not even new. It has been there in our organs, in our skin, in our tissues, in our massive bodily systems. But as we grow older, its main function of regeneration is also hampered. Thus, skin care technologists develop the use of plant stem cell extracts, the apple particularly for its being a powerful antioxidant, to aid our skin stem cells, for example, in slowing down the process of aging.

There is no such thing as anti-aging, per se, though. But through the Uttwiler spautluber apple extract (a Swiss tree) appearing of fine lines and wrinkles can be slowed down. Other sources that don’t compromise our ethical/moral standards include edelweiss, melons, date palms, and gotu kola for their superb ability to thrive in certain environmental conditions.

In fact, the use of the word “stem cells” is now limited to animal cells and human non-embryonic cells. Says the medical director of Flawless Aesthetic Beauty Clinic, in a recent presscon here, this is in accordance to a new regulation from the Food and Drug Administration that plant stem cells should be labeled “cell booster,” instead, to clearly define that demarcation line.

Flawless introduces its most advanced facial treatment to date: Cell Booster Infusion Mask. In a nutshell, Cell Booster Infusion Mask is designed to perform two main functions: to combat the effects of and protect the skin from the destructive free radicals that we encounter every day, and to rejuvenate and improve our skin’s cell architecture by nourishing it and encouraging the tissue regeneration process.

The science used for Cell Booster Infusion Mask allows it to deliver essential nutrients to the skin at cellular level. Using an advanced cellular repair hydrogel mask which contains highly concentrated essence of cell-activating nutrients, it promises to increase the skin’s elasticity, minimize pores and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while giving the skin an undeniable glow. The technology for hydrogel is innovative in that it coagulates nutritious substances into a gel format and delivers active ingredients into the skin by reacting to the skin’s temperature rather than the air. It also leaves the skin feeling cool, fresh and invigorated.

Ms. Lianily Delos Santos Co of Camellia at J Centre Mall shares in biostem treatment through plant stem cell-based products and technology from the USA and Korea. To delay wrinkles and combat chronological aging, Co uses Aqua ampoule and Bio Stem Cell ampoules, from apple extracts, in her skin care program. To improve fine lines, acne, discoloration, and to strengthen the immunity of sensitive skin, she also recommends Radio Frequency treatment (a non-surgical machine for facial rejuvenation).

For basic skin cleaning, she suggests basic facial. But for deeper pore cleaning and removal of dead skin, she said that going for a 6-session Diamond Peel treatment package once a month would be the best option. (FREEMAN)
