The Betty-Archie-Veronica love triangle, Mr. Lodge’s utter exasperation over Archie’s clumsiness, Reggie’s swagger, the love triangle in one episode among Moose, Big Ethel, and Midge; Jughead’s fervor for burgers—it wasn’t until the news about MAC’s latest collection came up that I realized how much I’ve missed reading Archie.

The collection draws inspiration from the hit comic book’s ravishing rivals that speak volumes of their polar personas. On one hand, you have a sultry palette inspired from it-girl Veronica Lodge’s ultra rich lifestyle; on the other hand is a sweet palette capturing the sunny personality of Betty Cooper, the girl-next-door type.

During its launching last March 16, Saturday, in Ayala Center Cebu, it poked some sense of jukebox nostalgia in many of us.  After getting first dibs on MAC’s Archie’s Girls Collection, here are my top picks:

Spoiled Rich Quad Shadow. Smoldering plum shades can easily pump up the night scene with this highly pigmented powder shadow that contains the right amount of shimmer and shine a la Veronica.

The palette comes in four plum-inspired shades: Ron Ron Run, Spoiled Rich, Pin-up Purple, and Gravel.

Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner. It comes in smooth and creamy formula that allows the color to glide on your lids. The texture is soft enough for blending, making it a perfect accomplice to the eye shadow if you want to achieve sexy smoky eyes. 

Go for a classic look with Black Swan, but if you’re in the mood to channel MAC’s Sci-chedelic spring-summer 2013 make-up look, you can opt for Designer Purple, instead.

Veronica Powder Blush. It has a mid-tone pink berry flush for the cheeks that comes with a satin finish. Appropriately called Prom Princess, it can go from day to night and is a perfect overlay for healthy, hydrated, dewy skin.

Betty Bright Lipstick. It’s the ultimate summer lipstick of 2013, courtesy of its deliciously peachy tone. It comes in the signature MAC lippy formula that combines rich color and luxurious texture that definitely has staying power. 

Veronica Lipglass in Strawberry Malt. Whether worn alone or paired with your favorite MAC lipstick, this will give your lips a sexy, high-gloss finish with all the richness that Veronica Lodge is known for. (FREEMAN)
