Baby In My Belly campaign launch

Liza C. Cabrera - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A campaign to raise awareness on the needs of pregnant mothers and their babies-to-be was launched recently at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu.

Richwell Phils Merchandising Manager Ritz Bernardo said that the "Baby In My Belly" campaign promotes respect for every pregnant mother, giving her the exceptional support that she needs.

Pigeon as makers of baby and mother care products looks after the needs of mothers and mothers-to-be through high quality, user friendly and durable products that ensure proper and healthy ways of supporting pregnant women.

The campaign highlights not only the well being of pregnant women but also the soon-to-be babies by persuading other people to show to the pregnant women the protection and care that they deserve.

Bernardo said that in Japan everyone, starting from the government, would show their care and support for each pregnant mom by giving her respect, care, love and special treatment. For example, hospitals, airlines, railways and other companies in Tokyo provide pregnant women with badges so that other passengers can offer their seats, especially during rush hour.

She added that this campaign made Japanese moms feel exceptional, and Pigeon Philippines wants to extend this kind of treatment to Filipino moms, as well.

Part of Pigeon's advocacy includes the release of The Pigeon Mom Pregnancy Etiquette Guide, which provides pointers on how pregnant women should be treated and how the community could provide them the support that they need.

Mom's Pocketbooks containing significant charts to be filled up during regular visits to the doctor were also distributed to pregnant moms.

The campaign also initiated events, activities, and special workshop sessions on important issues for pregnant mothers.

Certainly, beauty is relative and pregnancy is a beautiful blessing. Pigeon's Baby in my Belly advocacy shows the greatest commitment towards meeting the needs of pregnant mothers, babies and their families.
