ArchitecturalDenim

CEBU, Philippines - Denim has been around in the fashion scene for quite a long time now, long enough to be a widely used textile material for trousers, blazers, skirts and even dresses and coveralls.

No Water Needed

So, how do you take care of your denim? Do you simply throw a pair of jeans in the wash after every use? Well, a heap of denim addicts would say that washing them could eventually ruin them. They, surprisingly, place their trousers in a large Zip-loc bag and store them in the freezer at subzero temperature (this will kill the bacteria) between uses. Another way is through air-drying though not in direct sunlight.

Clarissa Reyes, brand manager of G-Star Raw, a Dutch denim clothing company, advocates these practices, given the brand's cutting edge craftsmanship and "luxury-denim-for-the-streets" design philosophy.

Strikingly Raw

During the launch of its first monostore in the Philippines at Bonifacio High Street Central in Taguig, Manila, Reyes emphasized that G-Star Raw is "the first brand to create the 'Raw Denim' style in jeans - an authentic and untreated and right-from-the-factory-result. It centers on crafting untreated and unwashed denim, with worldly vintage military clothing as inspiration." To simply put it, raw denim gets better with time and follows the contours of the body, hence a sought-after score.

3D Jeans

Since its inception in 1989, G-Star Raw has stayed afloat and relevant in the denim nation with its architectural tailoring and innovative experiments. The brand is responsible for the first ever iconic 3D jeans to hit the racks in the form of the G-Star Elwood designed by French chief designer Pierre Morisset. A pair of Elwood has arched legs, curved inward, with twisted seams; hence it turns around — with a distinct silhouette for just the right fit. It also has knee pads and back pockets stitched at the right places to either add comfort or shape.

G-Star Raw jeans also come in different lengths and not just in different waistlines. "We discourage our buyers to shorten their jeans," Reyes relates. Each jeans is meticulously stitched that only a G-Star seamstress can alter a pair without ruining the design/silhouette.

A complete line of denim apparels are available at the new G-Star store in Asia "designed and developed by the G-Store interior design team (standard design philosophy and store concept) using natural and raw materials."

Stars like Liv Tyler, Justin Bieber, Tom Delonge of Blink 182, Caleb Landry Jones, Jay-Z, Zac Efron, among others, are no strangers to this brand.

The Primer Group of Companies is the exclusive distributor of G-Star Raw in the Philippines.
