Spanish Ambassador in Casino Español

- Honey Jarque Loop - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Domecq was the guest of honor at the annual gala dinner hosted by the Casino Español de Cebu to mark the opening of the Spanish Month celebration.

Club president Buddy Veloso together with vice president Nonoy Tirol were on hand to welcome the Ambassador. General Manager May Ocaba graciously presented a garland of orchids to his Excellency.

Director for cultural and social affairs Paco Jarque was the evening's program chair. After the bienvenida by the president, Ambassador Domecq   delivered his well-expressed message that underscored the visit of Queen Sophia of Spain to the Philippines.

As expected, the executive chefs and the kitchen brigade outdid themselves in the preparation and execution of club specialties such as Paella Marinera, lengua con setas, chicken chilidron, pescado a la vasca and roasted chuck roll.

The evening's entertainment featured lively flamenco and Latin inspired dances. Some courageous and fun loving members gamely accepted the challenge to demonstrate their coordination and flair to the rhythm of the flamenco beat.

Members of the Amigos de España, a social club that meets regularly to preserve and promote Spanish culture, were in attendance as well. They included Amparito Lhuillier, Margot Larañaga, Myra Gonzalez, Julina Muertegui, Marichu Garcia, Susan Sala and Paqui Aboitiz.

As promised on the yellow and red invitations, good wine, music and lovely people were the offerings of the evening. The guests evidently enjoyed themselves and stayed on till midnight.
