Entertainment Nightly at Sally's Piano Bar

CEBU, Philippines - When Sally Rama opened Sally's Piano Bar late last year at Ebloc 1 at Cebu I.T. Park, her goal was to recreate her now defunct bar in Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino and still remain the same conservative boutique bar that people have grown to love 12 years ago.

"I didn't change the ambience," said Sally. "The clients are already used to Sally's Piano Bar. I simply wanted them to feel at home, listen to jazz or mainstream music and relax."

Sally Rama is known to be one of the most sought after singers known in Cebu circles for almost two decades. She accompanied famous pianists such as the late Rudy Kilantang with ballad songs of their choice and always make the performance come alive. Her long and impressive musical career here and abroad led her to meet international entertainers to the likes of Billy Joel, Basia, Nancy Wilson, Bon Jovi, Brothers Four and even the late Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston during the time when Sally Rama was the in house singer of the classy Capitol Tokyu Hotel in Akasaka Tokyo Japan. The experience inspired her so much she decided to come back to Cebu to add to her repertoire of performances and shared her success to music lovers in the city through Sally's Piano Bar.

"As time goes by I have to put life into my songs, whether Japanese or Korean, Chinese, French or any of your choices of song. That's entertainment for you. It made me tough. As an entertainer, you should know a little bit of everything," muses Sally.

Sally's Piano Bar is a hybrid of sorts - part dining, part performance space and part lounge. While the bar is set to serve drinks, the crowd is there to listen and to dine and taking center stage is a huge grand piano manned by a skillful pianist while an alluring performer dishes out songs in English, Cebuano, Tagalog, or even Japanese for several hours nightly. That's Sally for you. Things get grooving by 9pm and the bar is instantly alive. "Greatest performance of my life!" says Sally of the times when she performs onstage, concerts and dinner shows at classy hotels here in Cebu City.

Although it might be impossible to predict what a given evening's chemistry will be like, the most important factor is the experienced musician and singer who know how to take genial control of his or her audience.
