Eggs and More
CEBU, philippines - Breakfast by default: eggs and then some.
Twenty-something Dominic Lebumfacil Montenegro, after his three-year stint as a breakfast chef in Australia, returned to his roots to share his expertise through tasty plates of eggs, and more! From the Land Down Under to the Queen City of the South, the Cebuano brings the sunshine in with the opening of Omelet Restaurant & Bistro along the bustling General Maxilom Avenue, serving all-day breakfast fares, as well as quick meals, salads and some of his specialties of pasta, pork, chicken and fish dishes.
Although Dominic's first brainchild opens at 11AM, just in time for brunch, and closes at 9PM, it's breakfast all day at Omelet.
From simply a humble, well-loved breakfast favorite to becoming a star viand, eggs rule this hole-in-the wall bistro, to begin with. Dominic takes pride of his five-year experience at the hospitality industry and Omelet sprung from the concept of "doing things I'm already good at," he quipped.
The 10 plus-seater leaps from merely tickling the palate with crepes and toasts or poached, boiled, scrambled and over-easy eggs mixed with aromatic herbs, to a restaurant with easy-on-the-budget non-egg dishes such as Quarter Roast Chick – grilled chicken (oven) with pumpkin'd rice, Asian Pork and Rice – pork cooked in a savory sweet and earthy Asian-style sauce, Fish n' Taters – cobbler with duchess potatoes draped with Spanish sauce, Grilled Pork, Veg n Rice - pork, chop suey, rice and sauce; among others.
This five-month-old dining destination is having a quiet entry yet it's making a mark. Small, unpretentious and private and most of all can fry a perfect sunny-side-up!
Omelet is at Door 6 of Justice Cabahug Building, Gen. Maxilom Avenue. It's open from Tuesdays till Sundays.
