Rain ready

It's the rainy season!

Most of you perhaps love the rain. The cold weather and the sound of the rain lull you to sleep. Others sneak out for that fun bath in the rain with friends. Some even look forward to gulp down bowls of hot soup their lolas prepare and other comfort food that usually cooked during the rainy season.

However, the rainy weather has negative effects to our health. So it's time to arm ourselves with the right protective gears to spare us from the diseases that goes with it such as cough, colds, fever, among others. When going outdoors, don't forget to bring the following:

1. Umbrella. Rain or shine, the umbrella is the best protective shade. Choose the folding ones so you can slip it inside your bag before and after using.

2. Boots. Heavy downpours flood our streets so better wear rain boots to avoid getting bacterial infections such as leptospirosis (from rat's urine).

3. Rain coat. Don’t get your clothes wet!

4. Sweater, jacket, wind breaker - protection for the bbrrr weather

Also, here are tips from The Department of Health to stay disease-free this rainy season:

• Drink clean drinking water

•This rainy season, keep youself dry and warm

•Don't wade in floodwaters

•Dispose wastes properly

•Always wash your hands before and after eating and using the toilet.

Be safe, kids!
