Earth Day at Maribago Bluewaters

CEBU, Philippines - It was Earth Day indeed at Maribago Bluewaters last April 22. For the whole day, activities were lined up for guests to get the full feel of what Earth Day was all about.

The “My BlueArth” celebration was a festival of arts, food and music to increase awareness about the environment and its protection.

The event started with an ocean clean-up followed by the “Stay Active Clinics” which included Tai-Chi, Boxing, Arnis, and Stand-up Paddle Boating. Guests also enjoyed the healthy cooking demo of Chef Marie Gonzalez and were treated with the Lean, Green lunch buffet afterwards.

Guests, children most especially, were entertained with stories during the family story time led by news anchor and columnist Leo Lastimosa and wife, Dr. Iris Jakosalem. Bathalad presented Earth-friendly poetry, which was followed by Pinoy–Palaro classic games.

The jam-packed event concluded with the fashion show competition by University of San Carlos Fashion Design students who showcased their designs made of recycled materials and the lanterns of wishes, where wishes for Mother Earth were symbolically set free with lanterns in the sky.

Recycled materials were also displayed in their Bamboo House of chimes, Humanitree, “Art of Recycling” exhibit and arts and crafts making with recyclables.

Other Bluewater resorts in Panglao Bohol and Sumilon Island also had respective events to celebrate Earth Day.  (FREEMAN)
