-

CEBU, Philippines - Among the thousands of applicants for the Vicsal Foundation, Incorporated's Scholarship Program who applied in 2007, 21 scholars have finally graduated this March 2012. Six of them graduated with honors at the University of San Carlos while 15 finished their two-year grant at Cebu Technological University.

The graduates' academic success was celebrated last March at Cebu City Sports Club which was graced by the foundation's Board of Directors and Officers led by its President Dr. Edward S. Gaisano.

Vicsal Foundation's Scholarship Program started in 2007, which aims to sponsor determined students who have the potential but are financially unable to pursue their college education. To recall, 18 pioneering scholars graduated last year with four-year courses and 14 of them graduated cum Laude while 1 scholar graduated Magna cum Laude.

Among the graduates, 6 grabbed the highest academic ranks; they are: Maria Aiza T. Bering, BSA - Summa cum Laude, John Arnel A. Gimarino, BSA - Magna cum Laude, Kerwin G. Jorbina, BSCompE - Magna cum Laude, Edgardo B. Abregana Jr.,BSA - Cum Laude, Khristine Jill B. Malazarte, BSA - Cum Laude, and Danilyn C. Lordan, BSIE - Cum Laude.

During the scholars' graduation party, Dr. Gaisano congratulated the scholars as well as their parents for their success. "Graduates you have a way ahead to be productive. First, help yourself, and then your family, and then help others. If you can do that, then I can call it that we have passed on the baton in helping others," Gaisano said.
