Summer's Latest Offering: Mixed Berry!

CEBU, Philippines - Summer is here without a doubt. And its endless possibilities. Just like the new retail chic brand Mixed Berry. When you have a name like that, it follows that Tutti Frutti is the theme du jour at Mixed Berry shops, though you would necessarily get that by just looking at the clothes.

As owners Christopher and Mavi Ng explained, the inspiration was mainly a conceptual one, but it trickled down into the collection's circular seaming, delectable shades and shapes, and a mainly bright palette of orange, fuchsia. yellow and blue. Hues of true berries - persimmon, currants, gooseberries and grapes. 

The construction here was interesting: a ruffled blouse has only three arcing seams, drop-waist skirts with a kind of rounded pleats, blouses with a wing-like flap. Mixed Berry's strongest pieces relied on very cool colorific knits that translated into tank tops, leggings and skirts. Two particular standouts were printed gossamer chiffon set against itself, and a seriously chic dolman blouse with a fitted, calf length jeggings that fell in an off-center comfort zone. Elsewhere, the retail line used its signature print light beading to graphic effect, and it cut some very sharp shaped square necked tops. All in all, this latest offering is a very Walt Disney-esque outing from Mixed Berry: The pieces were fun than usual but ultimately flirty, too.
