Enduring love with a pinch of fate

- Ritche T. Salgado -

CEBU, Philippines - The last months of 2011 were not just about controversies. In the beautiful city of gentle people, a bond was formed between two affluent families – the Villahermosas and the Tias.

Last October 8, 2011, online businessman-cum-nurse Ervin tied the knot with his longtime lover Judy May. Their love story may not be as fairytale-ish or dreamlike, but the courtship and the waiting spanned years, a testament of the enduring quality of love and the finality of fate.

Ervin said that despite the feelers he sent to Judy May while they were still at the university, she never took him seriously and they never really became friends. But fate would have it that their paths would cross again. This time, Ervin took it upon himself to befriend Judy May and to finally confess his feelings for her.

The grand wedding was held at the more than 380-year-old parish of Santa Catalina de Alejandria in Dumaguete City, with reception at the lavish El Pueblo Genovivo of Dr. Rico Absin, owner of Dumaguete’s fantastic Christmas House.

The event was attended by some of the city’s well-known personalities including Dr. Felix Sy, Arch. Faustino Duray III, Maj. Gen. Nilo Jatico (Ret.), and Fiscal Juditho Agan.
