GLLFI offers Basic Cooking Class at Banilad center for Professional Development
CEBU, Philippines - Last June 3 was the start of classes for the first batch of Georich Livelihood & Learning Foundation, Inc. scholars who enrolled in a one-month course on Basic Cooking at Banilad Center for Professional Development located at #491 Archbishop Reyes Avenue. The scholars were chosen from among the domestic helpers employed by the Board of Trustees of the foundation and a few professionals recommended by consultants and officers of the GLLFI who are residents of Cebu City.
During the four Saturdays, from June 3 to 24, the scholars familiarized themselves with the different tools in cooking: techniques on how to sharpen the knife, how to cut different sizes of various leafy vegetables and root crops, how to make noodles and pastas and the garnishings of food. Various recipes were cooked, such as – Spring Roll, French Onion Soup, how to make mayonnaise, preparing an embutido, mixing an American salad, chicken cordon bleu, the making of white sauce, lasagna, baking a carrot cake and creating mango crepe.

The graduates gave their individual testimonies after graduation, expressing mixed emotions in thanking the Lord for the blessings extended to them; happy and proud as they are among the chosen few who had the opportunity to be trained formally in cooking. The training made them self-confident, meet more friend and relate with others as equals.
