Carlos' themed birthday celebration

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

Dame Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung feted loving husband and some friends from Hong Kong when he celebrated his 65th birth anniversary.

Held at their extended well-covered gazebo, the themed birthday celebration was replete with some production numbers that evoked the Indian era of Maharajah of Madagascar, of Ghandi and other figures of India. Guests came in their colorful and glittering costumes complete with headdresses to boot.

Carlos was wearing an authentic Maharajah outfit in white, gold and red with matching turban on his head while Dame Mariquita was the Majarina in red and gold sari with a tiara of huge red stones embellished with diamonds. Actually, Carlos’ costume in India was usually worn by rich Indian bridegroom during weddings and Kit’s was also worn by Indian brides. Host for the evening, Monette Aliño wore a beautiful Pajave, a set she bought from India.

The reason for the Indian-themed party was reminiscent when Carlos used to travel to India the last 46 years since India was one of the places for Carlos’ business. In fact, he was recognized and nicknamed “Indian Prince”!

But most unforgettable during the dinner party was the delectable and exotic buffet featuring the finest flavors of India…not to mention the very spicy cuisine prepared by the Yeungs’ favorite chefs from Hong Kong. Do you know that when the food was taken, you would hear tingling in your ears! It was such an experience, really and especially for those who love spicy food, oh my gosh, they truly had a great time!
