CEBU, Philippines - They scampered and screamed as fire rained and flames flooded the city. Horrific was the wailing of women, men and children as the hideous stench of burnt flesh engulfed the once prosperous and vibrant cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Teeming with the vibrancy of homosexuality, little did the people of Sodom and Gomorrah know that their flaming lust would turn them into a city of flames. In the heat of lust, gays were about to rape the angels who abided in the home of Lot. Just when gays pounced upon the angels, huge balls of fire fell from the sky. Sodom and Gomorrah turned into the world’s first and biggest crematorium.
The burning of Sodom and Gomorrah is not a horror story, nor is it an “ungo” story. When adapted into a movie screenplay, it can make a blockbuster horror movie. Many people today enjoy watching horror and spend hundreds of pesos to watch “ungo” movies or buy horror DVDs or tapes. Yet there is little fear in people on the consequences of the horrors of sin. There is little fear in people that the “ungo” does not have to be in the movies, television or comics. That “ungo” could be your neighbor who has become a transformed being.
Sodom Revisited.
“Ungo” is a Cebuano word that could mean a changed being, an evil being, an ogre or a witch. A technology called sex reassignment surgery is turning “ungo” out of men and men out of women. Also known as gender reassignment, genital reconstruction, sex realignment or sex change operation, sex reassignment surgery is a surgical procedure where a person’s physical appearance and function of the sexual characteristics the person is born with, is altered to resemble the other sex.
A man who transforms himself with the genitals of a woman is called a transwoman, meaning from male to female. Here genital surgery involves the surgical construction of a vagina. In constructing and changing male genitalia into that of a woman, an incision is made into the scrotum. The flap of skin is then pulled back while the testes are removed. A stump of the penis is removed, skin is stripped from the penis but left attached. Because what’s left of the penis is a stump, a shorter urethra is cut. The excess skin is used to create the labia and vagina. Ancillary surgical procedures for transsexual woman include facial feminization surgery and breast augmentation as well as hormone treatments. The cost for male to female reassignment is about P350,000 ($7,000) to P1.2 million ($24,000).
Sex reassignment from female to male or transsexual man entails surgical construction of a penis. The cost of female to male reassignment can exceed P2.5 million ($50,000) because the genital and physical reconstruction from woman to man entails multiple and complicated procedures that alter female anatomical traits to provide traits appropriate for male functioning. These procedures include mastectomy or removal of the female breasts, hysterectomy or removal of the uterus, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy or removal of both ovaries and fallopian tubes.
A woman who goes through sex reassignment surgery literally turns into an “ungo” because it entails grafting and reconstruction of the nipple areola especially for those with moderate to large breasts. The surgery is done in two steps, first contents of the breasts are removed through either a cut inside the areola or around it. Then the skin is made to retract for about a year. Then the she–turned-he goes through a second surgery where the excess skin is removed and the nipple is grafted.
Irreversible.
It is said that all surgeries carry the risks of infection, bleeding and relapse. Thing is, gender reassignment surgery is irreversible. Meaning if you are born male then decide to become female, you can no longer go back to your original male gender.
One of the first recipients of male to female reassignment surgery was performed in the 1930s. After the removal of the male sex organ, that recipient had four more subsequent surgeries including an unsuccessful uterine transplant that resulted in death.
Worldwide, Thailand performs the most sex reassignment surgeries, followed by Iran.
In a crime of harassment and attempted rape, God turned Sodom and Gomorrah into a colossal crematorium. How much more today when the bestiality of homosexuality has become so flagrant and surgeons bear no shame in tampering and desecrating God’s creation? A transsexual can physically alter the gender a person is born with. But when a person dies, even when human flesh is charred in death, bones or fossil remains reveal only one gender. It is certain that where flames reign, there the “ungo” abound, there transsexuals are cremated.
