CEBU, Philippines - Meet Sperry.

Sperry Top-Siders is an American favorite since 1935. Although quite a number of Filipinos already know the brand, it is being reintroduced in the country so the new generation will embrace it because of its “heritage, authenticity and optimistic personality.”

Sperry Top-Siders was created by Paul Sperry, who was inspired by his dog Prince’s ability to run nimbly over ice and snow. Mr. Sperry observed that Prince was able to maintain traction on a slipper surface because of wave-like grooves in his paw.

And the rest is history. Sperry Top-Siders became a favorite for those who “enjoy the good life in, on and around the ocean.” The shoe brand became famous for its specially treated leather than can withstand repeated wettings, authentic Non-Skid Sole, genuine rawhide laces and anodized aluminum eyelets. Over the years, Sperry Top-Siders has evolved beyond boat shoes and into casual and dress footwear, giving Sperry fans more choices. Latest designs include a range of oxford, chukka and desert boot inspired shoes that still offer the brand’s signature marriage of design and performance.

In 2010, Footwear Plus magazine awarded Sperry with the Plus Award for Design and Excellence in the Men’s Street category. The Plus Awards is determined by the votes of footwear retailers in the US.
