CEBU, Philippines - SM Supermalls simultaneously launched the new look of its eco-friendly bags last August 24. The eco-bags are the mall’s contribution to address issues plastic wastes.

The SM City Cebu launch was held at the Event Centre and was graced by environment advocates Atty. Gloria Estenzo – Ramos, Atty. Tara Rama, Vince Cinches of 350.org, Mario Marababol of Ocean Care, Kapasinan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas – Cebu Chapter Vice President for AM Radio Jun Tagalog, Cebu City Tourism Commission Project Director Cinbeth Orellano and Tourism Officer Glenda Gabuya.

Ms. Cebu 2011 1st runner-up Teffanie Lene Llamada modeled the new SM Eco-Bags during the launch.

“This year we move forth with the latest evolution of the bags that progresses from our previous themes.  As you can see, the message ‘I AM INVOLVED’ is displayed all across this event hall. This has been a salient theme for our environmental program this year and is at the heart of our Eco Bag campaign.  Through advocating re-usable bags, we can literally be involved in the environmental movement by reducing waste, promoting recycling, and minimizing plastic use,” said Sherry Tuvilla, mall manager, during her welcome message.

Other attendees, mostly mall tenants, affiliates, shoppers and students from the Mabolo National High School, were entertained by Cebuano violinist Jake Gacang.

The new SM Eco-bags are available for only P35 at the booths located at the Upper Ground Floor of the Main Mall near The French Baker.
