They were also briefed by NYC personnel on the projects that they could avail of with the NYC including the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) awards.
The visit included a stroll in Rizal Park in time for the celebration of the life of the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal; a conference with Negros Oriental Representative Jocelyn “Josy” Limkaichong; a meeting of Visayas officers and regional officers of the organization; and an educational tour in the country’s premiere underwater park, Manila Ocean Park.
The Sangguniang Kabataan in Negros Oriental is considered one of the country’s most active youth organizations. Considering its accomplishments since it took office last year, the organization is looking into participating in the TAYO awards.
SK Central Visayas director and provincial federation president for Negros Oriental, Scott Wayne Husain, however clarified that the organization under his watch is not seeking recognition. But he said that should they be given the opportunity, the grant that would be awarded to them would help in his plans in ensuring that every school in the region would be connected to the internet. Already the province boasts of being ninety percent IT-fied with the recent donation of 1,165 computer sets to different schools throughout the province.
