Trouble Paying Rent?

ROVING IMP - Kristalle Marie Garcia-Kekert -

Not paying rent on time, paying a cheque that bounces or not paying rent at all is a very common problem for landlords. So when you have trouble paying your rent, the biggest tip is to come clean and never upset your landowner!

Don’t be faced with this situation. Not too many people realize that ignoring or avoiding to pay rent can eventually lead to getting evicted. Communication is the key. Instead, find the time to explain that you are facing difficulties in meeting your payments. This is one of the simplest ways to carry on keeping good relations between you and the property-owner.

First and foremost, always read the rental contact thoroughly before making an agreement and never look for ways to twist things around. A contract is a contract and if you don’t agree to it, then you shouldn’t be renting to begin with.

How to manage your stress and finances? Never spend more than what you earn. The best solution is to save 40 percent of what you make, 30 percent to put aside for household expenses and the other 30 percent to spend on personal expenses.

Money saving tips: Only rent a place where you know you can afford the rent and never go over your budget, thinking that you will make the extra money in between. It doesn’t work that way.

A landlord would rather keep a good paying tenant (and possibly decide to never raise the rent) as opposed to having a new tenant who could turn out to be the complete opposite. At the end of the day, landlords have every right to protect their properties/investments. Yes, they are in control. Nothing is free in this world.
