Study Centers: Forming our future leaders
CEBU, Philippines - Do you still believe in our youth? Despite the cliché, are you still convinced they are society’s hope?
Sri Visayan Foundation, Inc. has never given up on our youth being protagonists of the future. Likewise, Kalinangan Youth Foundation, Inc. believes firmly in our youth as catalysts of progress.
“Get to know the youth better and you will discover that they are our pride and joy. They are bright and full of optimism, a brand-new day embodied. They see the world with fresh eyes,” this is their unified stand presented during the recent official launch of the “University Quiz Competition” project at the City Sports Club.
“University Quiz Competition: The best of the best” which was launched last June 23, and the first phase to culminate in December of this year, envisions this event to be an annual activity wherein more than 800 students from the various colleges and universities in Cebu would join in. It carries with it the hope to expand this endeavor nationwide. General mechanics of the competition saw print in our Education page last June 30.
SVFI, in a presentation, mentioned that “today’s young people are exposed to wide range of media that 10 years ago did not exist.”
“They have access to information in as fast as a split second at their fingertips.”
“With proper responsibility and formation, the youth can utilize these channels into something productive. But with wrong values and wrong notions, we may be unintentionally stirring their lives in the wrong direction.”
“The establishment of study centers,” SVFI said, “is a concrete and firm way of helping our youth find their true purpose and right direction.”
The Kalinangan Youth Foundation, Inc. shares in this initiative by establishing as well study center projects all throughout the country.
