Land your dream job with Jobstreet.com

- Quennie S. Bronce -

CEBU, Philippines - More than 5,500 jobseekers have been connected to some 50 companies in Cebu through the JobStreet.com Career Hub since it opened last February 25 at the SM City Cebu.

Jobstreet.com, the country’s number one job site together with SM City Cebu management, organized the said Career Hub as a way to further empower the Cebuano jobseekers so that they can get jobs soon.

“(When we are able to provide jobs to the millions of unemployed,) we are somehow solving the underlying problem of our economy, one person at a time,” says Grace Colet, country manager of JobStreet.com.

One of the many jobseekers who landed a job via the Jobstreet.com Career Hub was Joannes Arches, who, for the longest time, wanted to have a job that would match his skills as a layout artist. Arches read about the Jobstreet.com Career Hub in the papers and, on February 25, during the opening of the Career Hub, the 30-year-old jobseeker was one of the many Cebuanos who tried his luck that day. As it was a Friday, four companies were hiring on the spot for the best candidates and he chose to queue up an XLibris post.

Nina Isidro, the Human Resource Head of XLibris said that they were focused on filling up their needs for new employees in customer sales, sales and in post publishing. During the entire Cebu Career Hub campaign, the said publishing house had gathered more than 300 applicants.

And Arches did find his dream job. The new XLibris layout artist shared he is already busy and productive with his present job. “When I received my first salary, I decided to save it first. I am proud to say that my long wait is over… I found the job of my dreams through JobStreet.com,” he said.

To further serve the jobseekers and employers in the Visayas, Jobstreet.com is partnering with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the holding of a job fair on June 23, as part of the celebration of the Cebu Business Month.

Jobstreet.com Marketing Director Yoda Buyco said they are also planning to bring to Cebu the Career Congress this coming September, where Jobstreet and job administrators are expected to sit down. “We really want to make electronic recruitment easier,” she said.
