CEBU, Philippines - It has become an annual event and a means for society to achieve greater things and effect real change. This 2011, Earth Hour's theme is all about "Going Beyond the Hour" spearheaded by the World Wildlife Fund. This global movement encourages households and businesses to conserve energy for one hour in an effort to take action on climate change.
Cebu has been anticipating in this worthwhile cause, especially when for the second year in a row, Cebu's premier boutique events firm, A~List Events, PR & Advertising and 5-star Shangri-la's Mactan Resort & Spa are doing their bit for the environment by hosting "ILLUMINATED: An Earth Hour Celebration".
From 8:30 to 9:30 PM, guests were seen lighting the evening sky with Earth Hour beach lanterns on Shangri-la's shore, that outlined the number 60, the global symbol for Earth Hour. These lanterns sold at P500 entitled lucky resort wear-clad guests to a complimentary bottle of San Miguel Premium, a 10% discount at Sony Center, a 15% discount at Kamiseta, and a raffle stub, which gave them the chance to win exciting prizes from Shangri-la's Mactan Resort and Spa, Ipanema, Sony Center, Vaio, Kamiseta, and Skyy Vodka.
With Ocean Care Advocates, Inc., as the event's chosen beneficiary, ILLUMINATED: An Earth Hour Celebration continued to promote camaderie in the form of illuminating Cebuano's call to bringing forth global change.
